Some institutions use Scholarly to collect faculty leave applications. If your institution has enabled this feature, you’ll see a “Leave Applications” option in the left-hand menu when you log in. If you don’t see this section, your institution may still be handling leave requests through another system.
This guide explains how to complete your leave application in Scholarly and what to expect once it’s submitted.
Filling Out Your Leave Application
You’ll be asked to provide details relevant to the type of leave you're requesting—such as:
Proposed leave dates
Type and purpose of the leave (e.g., sabbatical, medical, or administrative)
A brief summary of planned activities during the leave period
Any required supporting information or document uploads (e.g., CV, sabbatical reports, etc.)
You can complete the sections in any order and return to edit them at any time before submission.
Saving Your Progress
There’s no need to save your responses elsewhere—Scholarly automatically saves your progress as you go, as long as you’re connected to the internet. You can leave and return to the form at any time before the submission deadline.
Submitting Your Leave Application
When you're ready to submit:
Go to the final section of the evaluation form, typically called “Review and Submit.”
Click “Complete” to officially submit.
After submission:
The task will be marked complete on your Scholarly dashboard.
Your application will move forward in your institution’s review process.
What Happens After Submission?
Once your application has been submitted, it will be automatically routed for review. Once it has been reviewed and a decision has been issued, your official outcome letter will be made available in Scholarly.
